Don't push them in just gently twist the injector return pipe with the seal on it and it'll plop in then. Don't push because it'll trap and cut them :(

I believe the more common causes of non start ( assuming its turning over ) are
Ignition switch
SCV
EGR stuck shut ?

It is spring loaded and its geared but no worm so it should push in but quite slow and hard until you feel the cogs move (like starting a bicycle in the hardest gear if that makes sense.)
I fitted a new 1 the other day. If yours just pushes away very easily then I'll say its goosed.

F it doesn't press in that's fine and it wants to be closed, if it is off the vehicle and you can see it then you can blow on it to see if it easily leaks. I did with my new egr and it did but I pressed it on and let if come back fast and it sealed.

Anyway it should only open when it is connected and working, but if you press hard and slow it may open with the gears but should spring return. It should not just push in easily with no resistance.
Not really sure if we're on the same page here exactly mind

I'm referring to the valve itself.
