2.4 tddi help

Postby Sgitheanach » Mon Feb 08, 2021 7:33 pm

I am converting a 125hp tddi to marine use with a cable operated pump and heat exchanger cooling but I need to know if I can fit a solid mass flywheel straight on or if it needs adapted , also what is the max safe rpm it can run at.

All 2.4 models with Bosch rotary pumps can install a single flywheel using the Repair Kit. Not possible on the 135HP tdci model.
The 2.4 tddi engine with Bosch VP44 electronically controlled develops 125HP at 4,000 rpm, the maximum speed is 4,900 rpm. Maximum torque is 285 Nm at 2,300 rpm. I think continuous operation at 3,000 - 3,300 is perfectly possible and safe. However, long-term operation above 4,000 rpm does not bode well . In general, modern diesels do not tolerate long-term operation at maximum performance.
