Red Warning Light Mk6

Postby Alaskamick1 » Sun Feb 21, 2021 11:22 pm

Hi, I wonder if anyone can advise me.
I have a Mk6 Campervan which is basically a standard Mk 6 base
There is a red light on the LH side of the instrument panel which has a symbol of a battery
The handbook says that when you turn on the ignition and start the engine the symbol lights up and stays on until the engine runs and it then goes off.
After standing for several months I started it as a check but the light remained on while the engine is running
Can you explain how to remedy this please. Any help will be much appreciated

If that light stays on it's usually an indication that the battery isn't being charged.

You can check by measuring the battery voltage when the engine is off, and when it's running. If the voltage is the same, then you have a charging issue.

Many thanks for that information. The book doesn't say what is wrong if it stays on.

I know what to look for now.
