Motor on signal wire

Postby Oldsmokey34 » Wed Feb 24, 2021 6:54 pm

Hi this my first post on this forum, hello every body,

I am converting my van into a camper, I am installing a Sargent. EC 160 control unit for the electrics it needs a signal to charge the second battery. Some people call it the D+ wire others call the “motor on” or “motor running”or “alternator trigger wire”.
My van is a 2013 Trans Trend can somebody tell where I can find it.

Many thanks in advance John.

Hello John , I too have just fitted a lithium battery and BCDC charger. See my post here... viewtopic.php?f=58&t=205534
I need to find the wire you mention as well. But I believe its ANY ignition wire that comes on when the key is turned ? and not just a specific wire... ? "Mo"

Look on the bemm on the Ford etis site.

I'm sure there is a engine run signal behind the glove box somewhere. But it has been a while! Think there was one for the svo fuse box

On my mk6 I just used the standard Duralite split charge relay just a battery to battery connection no need for ignition wire

Dumper, using one of those voltage-sensitive relays was my initial plan but i have solar panels and believe that it causes problems with the VSR sensing the current coming from the solar. I only want it to charge when the engine is running so have been advised that using a D+ trigger relay is the best way to get around this... just struggling to find out exactly how to link the relay to the D+ connection on my mk6 transit

If it hasn't got smart charge can't you just wire it to the charging lamp on the mk6?
