MK5 Problems

Postby OuterMongolia » Thu Apr 15, 2021 1:02 pm

ls lt possible to start a MK5 "banana" Diesel engine 3.5 only by connecting the starter motor directly to the battery using leads ? lf yes then how can lt be stopped ? Came back to the van after 5 months parked after lockdown restrictions were eased in Crete Greece to find headlights stolen ,positive connection to the battery cut and taken ,hoses from expansion tank to radiator cut and taken ,fuse box cut and interfered with. We've had the van parked in the car park near the beach two years as it is now not road worthy or road legal in Greece !?
I have a 1999 MK5 Bannana Engined Transit Campervan

Well a couple of wires yes...

I'm assuming its a non turbo here (because people still call turbo engines banannas, but they are not)

You can either put a live to the stop solenoid, or take the plunger out completely and flash the starter and it should go.

To stop either remove the live to the stop solenoid or stall the engine
