mk3 platform chassis rear spring hanger ? right bitch to fix

Postby gasbo » Sat Apr 24, 2021 2:29 pm

has anyone tried replacing one of these ? doesnt seem to be any to buy...looks like you have to fabricate them yourselves.

the bushes are 3" wide so thought about getting a 3" wide box section by about 6" vertical and say 8" long and bolting it to the underneath of the luton box which on mine is quite thick steel that supports the box with ample room to insert the bolts..then slide in the bushes and shackles and bolts..would this pass the mot or would the spring hangers have to be attatched to the chassis as well? this could be done if i welded another box section to it

It doesn't look too difficult to fabricate something similar to the original hanger and weld it on.

I certainly wouldn't attach it to the Luton body, there's a lot of stresses involved.
