I have a 2005 Transit Minibus with an ASM (auto shifting manual) gearbox, so controlled by 3 buttons on the dash rather than a gearstick.
The gearbox is currently stuck in neutral, but has before stuck itself in 3rd gear too.
While it's stuck in neutral most of the time it won't even attempt to start, it's like it knows there is a problem so won't even turn over when the key is turned.
Occasionally it will start however, but absolutely noting happens when you press the buttons for drive or reverse, it doesn't even attempt to go into gear.
The guy I bought it from said that it had once before done the same but was stuck in 3rd gear, but they managed to rock it to get it into neutral where it is now stuck!
We have bypassed a relay so that it will start every time on the key but a local auto electrician has had no luck in finding any obvious problems, so I need your Ford expertise please.
Any ideas where to start? Read on another forum it could be vacuum pipes split but it's not that. Appears that it could be an electrical problem rather than mechanical?
Any help very much appreciated, thank you.
EDIT: May have found a solution here? viewtopic.php?f=5&t=135953 Still any advice still welcomed while I check that out further.
