Engine bay water ingress Transit 2021 Eco Blue 2 ltr 170PS

Postby cartleft » Fri Jul 16, 2021 8:19 am

Hi all,
I have just bought a New Ford Transit 2021 Eco Blue 2 ltr auto 170PS and have just come across a very serious water ingress problem.
Rain water floods in to the engine compartment from the windscreen drain system Left and Right side and half of it ends up running down the wiring looms on the passsenger side and into the engine management system area.
I have booked it in with my local ford dealer who says and I quote " I have not heard of this problem before "
I have carrieed out a visual inspection of this drainage set up myself and found it to be an absolute mess, Monday Morning job does not even come near it.

Can anyone advise the best way forward

Best way forward is to take it back to Ford as it's under warranty.

Let them worry about it as it's not fit for purpose.

Is this a Mk8 :?: If so, there is a thread on here about missing water drain channels on some of these vans.

I don't think the Custom has the same problem though :)

Hi,

I've just bought a new transit myself. Did you manage to find out about water running into the engine bay onto electrical component, as I've got the same problem as you. Wondered if Ford sorted it out for you? thanks Paul
