Engine Tapping Noise

Hi all my names chris I’m new to the group and I’d like to say I’m a proud owner of a 2015 transit custom 2.2 if it wasn’t for this problem!!!

So it seems to have developed a tapping noise which happens on tick over and during acceleration. It’s hard to explain or hear where it’s coming from. The vans only done 60k so not something I was expecting at this sort of mileage..it’s had a very recent oil change and is booked into the garage next thurs but I just wanted to see if anyone had any ideas before it goes in…it’s hard to explain what it sounds like other then quite a metally sound and quite a high pitched tapping. The engine sounds ever so rough on acceleration and I also noticed when pressing in the clutch slightly there seems to be some sort of vibration coming through the peddle…almost in harmony with the tick of the engine…

I would appreciate any ideas even though it’s a very vague explanation but I’m sure if any of you guys have had the same problem you’ll know exactly to me.

I did think that if I’m honest…again it’s too bigger job for me. Guess I’ll find out next Thursday. I’ll post an update when I get the call from the garage.

Just a follow up….had it in the garage today and turns out the bottom end has gone…new engine only done 60k absolute madness

That's very odd, bottom end failure would normally be a very heavy knocking.
A light tapping, is more likely to be the small ends

Agree....Was the oil filter checked for "sparkly bits"..??
