ANTI-RUST REGIME

Postby MilesWorld » Fri Sep 17, 2021 10:29 am

i am about to treat the 'light' rust on the underside of new/old transit,
in the past i brushed and sanded off all the rust that I could and then . . .

1. kurust
2. no.1 rust-beater (the beige primer)
3. smooth hammerite

on the visible parts of the van i later sprayed cellulose.

I am planning to spray waxoyl into every cavity, and maybe

This worked well, I am wondering if anyone has experience with anything better ???

also Hammerite now make a rust removing gel ??? has anyone used this ???

Also are there any nuts on the bottom that I should not put Kurust on ??? i can imagine that it would make them harder to remove in the future ???

thanks for your help, Miles

The only rust removing gels i recommend are the pure phosphoric acids ones
...the ones with latex in them avoid ..the latex ones only treat the surface and seal in rust ..so it erupts a number of years later - these are quick botch and get rid of vehicle soon remedies.
Hammerite is also a quick botch cover all . get rid of vehicle soon treatment. (unless there is no rust in that area to start with)
waxes and such are long term ..and can even stop rust getting worse

see my other post for cavity wax hints .

I've used a lanolin based product - "Lanoguard" works very well. Downside is its a yearly application, but it is a quick process..
