How do i replace the EGR valve?

Postby Hedgie » Sun Sep 26, 2021 9:24 pm

After much deliberation I have decided to replace the EGR valve on my 2007 MK7 2.4tdci myself.

Cant get a garage to do it for 3 weeks and i need my van for work etc.

Is there an online manual or should i buy the online Haynes one?

No idea if any manuals out there tell you how to do it, but sure it's been covers here if you search.

But in brief, 8mm &10mm spanner, 8&10mm ¼"drive socket and good ratchet.
Skinny long arms and a fettish for BDSM you'll be sorted. You can go in long from the top/front
Or partly from below. And being good with your hands without seeing what your fiddling with is a bonus.

Is that where one is easy and the other is a pain in the bottom depending on if its a fwd or rwd?

Ahhhh in which case its the one that's........... To do

No clued up on the new fangled stuff.
Read somewhere that 1 was more of a pain than the other.

Obviously the one in question is one of them.

The EGR on my FWD is right at the front, so is probably easier to do than the RWD

I’m glad you said that, is it front right, under the air box thingy? Mines stuck closed so need to clean it (when I can find it)
