Mk7 Custom side door issues

Hi all,

I have an issue with my 2016 mk7 custom LWB … the issue is that the external door handle will not open the side door if the side door is closed. I can use the internal handle to open the door no problem, also If the side door is open and on the catch the external handle will engage and I can close the door without an issue, so it’s just when the side door is closed the external handle won’t ‘engage’. I have take the cover from the inside of the door, when I hold the cable and try to operate the external handle I can feel the cable moving, do you think it could be the lock causing the issue the other end of the cable?
