Oil leaks under the oil pan

Postby Normandy1944 » Wed Oct 13, 2021 8:00 pm

I was checking the engine on my sisters MK7 and saw some leaks underneath.
It looks like the biggest leaks are coming from the top of the oil pan. (1st picture)
It is also visible on the other side of the oil pan. (2nd picture, it somehow twisted the picture)
On the 3rd picture, you see the oil drips from underneath the oil pan towards the left side of the vehicle

I checked the oil level and it exceeded the maximum every time I cleaned the rod.
Could this be the cause for the leaks?
Or is it something else?

Could be coming from a number of different places, most likely above the bell housing, passenger side of the FWD engine......give the whole engine a good clean with degreaser, hose down and let it dry, this will make locating the source of the leak a bit easier.

Thank you for your reply.
These are some leaks that are visible on top and the side of the engine.
Does that help in determining where the leaks come from, besides the ones that I already posted?
The first one is at the bottom of the oil fill pipe and the second is the top of the cilinder head.

Possibly just the rocker cover leaking and running down the engine....

Clean it off and all will be revealed.
