Mk6 transit starter

Postby Mrfunkybum » Fri Dec 03, 2021 10:08 pm

Hi, I have a mk6 transit 2.0 fwd, I've been having starter problems so fitted a new starter motor and everything was fine until the next morning when I went to start the van and just got a clicking noise, so I jumped the van and it started fine, used all day driving, switching on off, fine, then the next morning battery dead again.
Can anyone suggest a solution please the battery is less than 1 year old and I've not had any problems until the new starter was fitted.

Even a 1 year old battery can be fugged....get it properly load tested.

If it is the battery then it should be under warranty so a straight swap, if it’s not the battery you may have something draining power over night, dash cam ect

Hi, problem solved, it was my interior lights, I plugged the multi meter on to the battery keys out and it was dropping at the rate of every 3 seconds, turned the lights to the off position and bingo no more drain.
Aftermarket leds in the rear, been working fine for 4 years but I have a feeling I have knocked them throwing some wood in and distributed the wiring. I will be taking a closer look.
Thanks for all your replies.
