Hi, Just joined to get some information for a friend who has just written off his Transit tipper that he has had many years. Insurance are now saying its not a van so probably not paying out, but he has had many MOT's and always comes up as a van. Are all Transit's registered as vans please? Many thanks in anticipation.

No, not all transits are registered as vans. MOTs don't say what the vehicle type is...

Unfortunately its his responsibility to ensure the details the insurance company are correct. If they arn't (as appears to be the case) then the insurance company are within their rights not to pay out, and to cancel the insurance - which then has to be declared when getting new quotes

Many thanks MinorMatt for your reply, I will pass on your message, his MOT garage told me when they did his MOT in November it comes up as a Transit Van but logbook says LWB Tipper. He got his daughter to deal with his insurance so guess he should have picked it up, but most grateful for your reply.
