Hi
I've recently spent far too much on having my brakes, clutch & pulleys sorted on my 2007 Transit LWB High Top, much more than the van is worth, so I'm really hoping someone can help me stay out of the garage with this...
A few months ago my van started to cut out, maybe once or twice a day. It was annoying but it started fine each time and so I lived with it
Now it's cutting out much more often, 4 or 5 times in a short journey usually when in low revs, doing manoeuvres. It seems fine when accelerating and driving at speed
I had the RAC out today and he said the OBD fuse blew when he tried to hook up to it. He didn't say much more to be honest, just 'that's your problem, it's shorting, which garage do you want to be towed to' (I didn't for the reason given above)
I was left wondering whether the problem was:
A) A short circuit causing the engine to cut out
B) He couldn't diagnose the problem because the OBD fuse was blowing.
There have been some other electrical issues recently:
- Back nearside light isn't working (I've checked the bulb holder and it’s fine so I'm thinking it must be either the connector or an issue further up)
- Interior lights fuse repeatedly blowing
Could these be connected to the engine cutting out?
I've also have a long term issue with the side door setting off the horn when locking, this has been happening for years though so not sure it's relevant?
Thank you
Damien
