installing roof vent into ridged roof

Postby Transitary » Tue May 31, 2022 9:35 pm

Hi all, Just joined with a newly aquired Mk6.
Roof skylight was leaking badly on first night of use.
Found the skylight was a complete mess of silicon sealent on roof and not suprised it was leaking.
Decided it was best to remove it and start again with new skylight or vent.
Can anybody give me advice on how best to install/seal it in the ridged roof.
and any advice on skylights . This one is right sizehttps://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/283301560948.

thanks in advance

Somewhere on the net there a bloke who makes 3D printed adapters to go in the ribs and make a level surface to seal to ?
other than that i usually fill the dips with Mastic Sealing Strips and then sika the mating area, i never use normal selaer like silicon, it tends to shrink with UV IME, something like sikaflex 522 caravan :)
