When I lock the doors with the key fob the horn honks

Postby Longford » Tue Aug 02, 2022 2:38 pm

I have a L3 H3 Ford Transit T350, when I lock the doors the horn honks once, this is very annoying and especially at night around 10 -11pm when I generally get home.

How do I disable this annoying feature, it's driving me mad.

You can't disable it, (you can disconnect the horn though)....the horn beeps because the system "thinks" a door is still open when you try to lock it. One or more of your doorlock mechanisms or their wiring is not well.

My Mk 6 only beeps when I press the lock button for a second time, so I assume it thinks the doors are locked, but one is not deadlocking. I haven't been able to work out which one it is!

I don't know if this helps!

Hi, thanks for the info, I think it's the side sliding door, although when I sit in the van the open door indictor on the dash goes off, the door doesn't feel like it's properly shut, the rear edge isn't completely flush the panel, it feels a bit springy like it wants to shut but can't quite do it.

Just a follow up post really, I still have the "single horn honk" when locking the doors but I have managed to get the sliding door to fit snuggly in line with the body work.

The main culprit was the aluminium latch fixed to the body where the rear lock shuts onto it, I had to loosen the Torx 40 bolts and move it back by approx a 1cm, well as far as it would go back to be honest, I marked the position prior to doing this just in case I needed to move it back to where it was.

I also got the front top part of the sliding door to fit better by loosening the top nut, lifting the door from the bottom which moved the door top towards the van, the top bracket appears to have a short slot arrangement and lifting the door pushed/slid the door in at the top.

So, I thought I'd fixed the problem but to my dismay the horn honked on locking and it cuts through you like fingernails down a blackboard. I've bought some electrical contact cleaner and some engineers blue to see how well the contacts make er! contact lol! I test out all the doors and see if I can get this sorted through a thorough diagnostic process and hopefully this will help others from going insane.

Just tried the locking again and checked all the doors were locked, guess what, the rear door didn't lock, so, although I have aligned the side sliding door; which looks so much better, it either wasn't that at all and I was wrongly assuming it was the sliding door because of the poor fit or it's a combination of a poorly fitting sliding door and the rear door not locking. So maybe I have eliminated one issue, never thought it could be more than one problem.

Just shows you, so, first port of call is to lock the doors then go around and check them all to make sure they are all locked, if they are move forward and make sure they are all seated properly and fit well, then check contacts and clean as necessary after that I'd assume fuses or parts issues are the culprit.
