hi all can any 1 tell me i wos going 2 put a diesel lump in my mk2 camper [coach built] but the cab is get a bit worse 4 wear so is mk3 the same length as my mk2 its a 110 in from middle of back wheel 2 middle of front wheel any info would b most app thanks

Twin or single wheel? if single wheel, I have never heard of a single wheel LWB chassis cab, so the wheelbases are all the same for SW. If twin wheel, are there any plates bolted to the chassis, and is there a gap almost big enough to fit a 2nd tank in between the tank and the spring hanger? There are two TW lengths, regular and Extra LWB, look on the passenger step on the inner wheel arch, where the door closes. If it's a Special Vehicle Option, there will be a Ford SVO plate (not to be confused with the VIN plate, which all Mk2 chassis cabs have on the passenger step above the tread.)

its a single wb only 1 plate in side 2 many weld plates the only bit ive got is vjjcs5 -model 120 and there r plates on the chassies like u said but thay hold the camper on u might just get anther tank under there.

so your after a mk3 chassiscab for your mk2 back then
i believe the pickup backs swap over between mk2 and mk3 so you should be ok but what about the bit where it meets the cab??
i think there is about 1" or 2" difference in the wheelbase of the swb mk2 and mk3!!

yeah mk2 106" mk3 110.8" wheelbase

so does that mean the rear wheel arch wont match with the wheels or is it just the gap between cab and camper

carnt i just buy a mk3 swb panel van and cut the back end of with the floor then just bolt my camper on ?

I think a measure up before you commit yourself is in order!!
but i think it is the front wheel that is different - further forward!! besides you wouldnt notice 1"

no!! the top half of the chassis is replace by the floor in the van!! it just wouldnt have the strength!!

why not stick with the mk2 - there much better looking (arnt they fred ) how bad is it got any piccys

ill take a pic 2mmrow its not that bad all the welding has been done justs needs a bonnet and a few bits its the fuel thats akiller did 240 miles over the weekend cost 70 quid in petrol thanks 4 all the advice

i'd say Di into mk2 would be easier than swapping the back!!
