The saga continues.... Dpf problem?

Postby Matttjuk » Sun Aug 21, 2022 2:02 am

Hello

I'm convinced my 2014 tourneo is possessed now

The other day it came up saying 'engine malfunction ', was still running as normal so dug out forscan and it gave me the following codes:

P244C & P2463

Both dpf related and I haven't noticed it trying a regen.

Looking on the dashboard of forscan it is saying it's about the dpf load is 116%.

After a bit of googling it's pointing to the vapouriser?

Cheers

Matt

Easiest thing to do is remove it and get it mapped out....These Euro-5 DPF's seem to be more throuble than they're worth. Trouble is if you get an anal MOT inspector or similar, you're in trouble.

I'd like to get it all mapped out but unfortunately just not an option at the mo :(

After a bit more investigation, the EGT temp for the bank 1 sensor 4 is displaying -40 Deg so that seems to be the issue!

Anyone know what sensor bank 1 sensor 4 is?

Cheers

Cold start just now

Definitely exhaust temp sensor 4

Just done a static regen, said it was successful but didn't make any difference to the soot levels, came back up with the fault codes too.

The pre dpf exhaust temp was hovering around 360deg during the regen, post temp sensor was about 460deg. Don't know if thats right?

The sensors are getting 5v so wiring must be ok, guessing it's a blocked vapouriser not letting it get up to 'dpf clean' temp

Getting rid and mapping it out is going to be cheaper in the long run than trying to continually fix it all the time.

Yeah I know, there's not a lot of 'friendly' MOT places near me unfortunately

I've discovered what the fault is anyway, it's the vaporiser. Completely blocked.

So I'll get hold of a genuine one and hopefully all will be well.

I have done a lot of short journeys recently so that hasn't helped with the dpf

Highly unlikely...not for long anyway.

Like the silly door locks and DPF's every second post is one or the other...or both at the same time.

Can I ask, how easy a job is it to replace the vaporiser?
This might be the same problem as mine, short journeys, forced regen only working for a day or two

Try running onTexaco supreme diesel, i had all kinds of issues with mine. Had to get a forced regen every couple of months. Since using it about 2 years ago, not had to do a single regen. Only use mine around town. Would never go back to sny other diesel.
