Rear gearbox mount 2007 rwd Transit.

Postby Johnny P » Sun Sep 18, 2022 3:11 pm

Hello. I am going to attempt to change the rear gearbox mount on my 2007 rwd ex RAC Transit. Do I need to lift the gearbox slightly to remove the mount. Any advice welcome.

Thanks Johhny P

You'll need to support the rear of the geabox as you remove the old mount, the gearchange cables, some wiring and coolant hoses may be stressed a bit if the gearbox is left to hang on the engine mounts. Just use a trolley jack under the gearbox to support it whilst removing the rear mount.

Thanks Lord Knobrot. I tried to change the gearbox mount but could not free the bolts. One of them started to get the corners round off. May try to give them some heat and penetrating oil.
