Side mirrors heating elements don't work - defrost function

Postby ford2233 » Mon Oct 24, 2022 9:45 am

Hi folks,

I don't understand why both of my side mirrors on my Transit don't heat up. Tilting works and power is going into the heating element - I measured 14,1 Volts. I'd understand if only one doesn't work, but it seems like too much of a coincidence that both would be faulty. What is your take on this? I just bought the car. Perhaps the heating elements are just too weak in Transits in general?

Thank you kindly for your time!

If you have voltage present at the mirrors, you could check the resistance through the mirror elements,or use a multimeter in series on amps to see if they are actually taking any current.?

I have tried this and there is no current through the mirror elements. I'm not sure if I did it right though. Again, the current is measurable on the connection points to the mirror. What I found strange is that both mirrors have the same issue.
