Mk5 clutch.

Postby pog27 » Sat Nov 05, 2022 3:34 pm

Hi all, am looking for advice about the clutch on 1997 R reg 2.5 na Transit. I am trying to change the clutch and the kit I have been supplied seems to be wrong in that when it is all fitted up and gearbox back on the clutch arm hits the forward end of the slot in the bellhousing before the release bearing touches the fingers on the clutch cover. Like a fool  I threw out the old one to the scrap man so I cant compare the two. Is there a different kit for post 1997 models or am I being stupid and missing something? Hope one of the clued up members can please point me in the right direction.

Might be worth checking that the clutch arm hasn't started to snap and bent, It's a fairly common problem.
Also make sure it's clipped onto the little mushroom in the bellhousing.
