Vents on batteries

Postby Chefgage » Sat Nov 26, 2022 6:29 pm

Replaced the auxiliary battery under the seat. The new one has two vent holes either side of the battery. I have a vent hose connected to one side. Do I leave the bung in on the other side?

Conflicting information online especially as the supplier states bungs must be removed before using. My feeling is that the vent holes are connected so you only use one, other wise you would need a pipe on the other one as well. Am I correct?

Yes, the instructions aren't helpful, I left one bung in place, and the vent in the other side.

Leaving the other bung out would allow the fumes to gather under the seat.

The leisure battery I fitted to my van had instructions to remove one plug for vent tube and leave the other one in

A lot of replacement batteries have both so one battery can fit more applications

Thanks. I thought that was how it was done.

I can only find the twin battery vent tube, you could always blank off one side
