MK 7 rear lights working and not working.

My mk 7 transit has a problem with the rear lights. A couple of different things happen.

1, When I press on the brake pedal the nearside light comes on fine, but the offside light is very faint.

2, If I put the lights on both rear lights light up just fine, until I press the brake pedal, then the nearside brake light works fine, but the offside light goes out.

I have tried cleaning up the connections, but it didnt make any difference.

Im not bad at mechanical stuff, but electrics are not my strong point.

Any advise would be much appreciated.

I think I might have sorted it out.

The rear bulbs have twin filaments, and I guess one isnt working on the offside.

I will get a new bulb tomorrow, and see how it goes.

Have you swapped the bulbs to check the problem swaps sides?

Also have you unplugged the whole light holder and checked the connections?

If a light goes out when the brakes go on it may be a bad earth. Check it doesn't affect the indicators too.

yes Ive pulled out the light cluster, and cleaned up the connections. I will check any earth connections.

the indicators are working fine.

I tried a new bulb, but that did solve the problem.

Im still scratching my head.

I will check ay other connections, and earths.
