Ford transit mk7 2.4 6speed rwd diff question

Postby Stephend161 » Sat Dec 31, 2022 1:19 am

Hello lovely people.

Soo i am considering changing my rear axle from the 4.27 ratio that i currently have (according to ford.7zap website)
To the 3.73 ratio axle..

Has anyone done this and has it made a noticeable difference.

So my van is a transit mk7 lwb high top T350 2.4 rwd 6 speed.
I do not plan on using the van for heavy loads..
The van is being converted into a basic camper more day van so minimal weight in the back and wont ever cary too much weight atall…
The van currently seems to eager on Acceleration and im trying to reduce this and make for better rpm while on the motorway and just a less aggressive pull off and a more smoother acceleration and ride.

Also i read that the 4.27 ratio diff is for towing and this being an ex water maintenance van with a tow bar i can assume it was towing..something i may occasionally do but less over more..

So has anyone swapped their rear axle for the 3.73 ratio and was it better for motorway driving and also every day driving..
Any info or advice would be greatly appreciated..

Thanks all happy new year
