minibus air con

Postby minibus50 » Sun Jan 01, 2023 3:51 pm

I have a 2004 transit minibus that i'm converting and am trying to remove the air con head unit that was above the drivers seat. theres 2 hoses and 1 electric cable going to a unit under the body with 2 fans in it. I've found where the hoses and cable go. is it just a case of disconnecting those 2 hoses as the fan unit can stay, or does it all have to be removed?

Sounds like a "Non-Ford" installation. You may have to find out who the A/C was installed by and ask them or take it to an A/C installer and ask them.

Hi,
On my 2005 minibus with the aircon unit in the back the two coolant pipes on my van ran under the floor. I cut the hoses by the engine and used a short 16mm copper pipe to join them together. I did this early last year without any issues. I was going to leave the pipe untouched but the aluminium Y pipe by the engine started leaking so I changed it. Before you cut any pipes make sure they are for the coolant only. I could tell on mine by seeing the antifreeze dripping where they joined the engine coolant and got hot after running the engine for a short time.
