abs bleed

Postby jasonblacktransit » Sun Jan 29, 2023 7:03 pm

Hi all. just done a mk7 axle conversion onto my mk6. I need to do an abs bleed on it as no brakes after bleeding. Whats the best gadget to do the job at a reasonable price. How do you go about doing it, read loads of posts but no real description of how you do it.

Have you just swapped the axle and kept all the mk6 rear drum set up ?
Unless you completely emptied the circuit you shouldn’t need to touch abs or do a service bleed.

Its a complete mk7 axle. discs and calipers. I have made brackets for the abs sensors. I am a mechanic. Its bled up using the traditional method but pedal is as soft as a sponge

If you have air in the ABS system it will need bleeding via Forscan or IDS...these activate the ABS pump and bleed the complete system, normal pressure bleeding doesn't activate the ABS pump.

I’m not sure that setup will work,
Drum brakes use a very small amount of fluid to move cylinders,
Disc brakes,on a master cylinder designed for drums, :?:

Forscan will walk you through it...it's quite intuitive. But just be aware, it uses a stupid amount of brake fluid so have plenty on hand.

Many have done the conversion without M/C issues I believe.
