MK6 2005 2.0DI Tractoring / Loss of Power

Postby 281192ben » Sun Apr 16, 2023 8:15 am

I have the above problem and up to now changed the timing solenoid on the back of the pump . The van now starts ok revs up fine when cold or in neutral at operating temp but once in gear or the clutch down I cant get it to go over 3000rpm , I suspect this is a form of limp mode . I have scanned it and it came back with P1564 and P0149 one is fuel timing error the other is requesting reduced fueling . does anyone have any ideas what it might be ? I am going to change the fuel filter today and re bleed the system just to make sure its not that . What I cant understand is when its sat idling in neutral at normal operating temp it revs fine so i dont think its mechanical , just my opinion but if anyone could help with some ideas i would appreciate it .
Thanks in advance .

P1564 & P0149 are timing solenoid fault codes, you mentioned you had replaced it though.

Have you cleared the codes and see if they come back..??

I have now resolved my issue thanks to scanning posts on here and it giving me some ideas to try . When I changed the solenoid on the pump i couldnt get it off without removing the pump and doing it on the bench . When i fitted the pump back on the van the timing was ever so slightly off , i went through everything again but this time I TOOK MY TIME and the van fired up and runs great again . Yet again saved by the community of this forum and previous posts .
Happy Van Man once again :D
