Engine cuts out intermittently

I have a 2004 VJ Transit 2.4 Tddi. When on a smooth road it seems ok. As soon as I get to a rough stretch the engine will cut out, sometimes the glow plug light comes on as well as the red light on the left. I have found that if I leave it in gear, turn the key of then straight back on it starts ok. Other times the red light on the tachometer comes on the engine cuts out and if I take my foot off the accelerator then back on it starts ok as well. I have just had the fuel solenoid valve replaced with a new one. It seem to me on a smooth road it’s ok but I can sometimes hit some bumps and nothing happens, then the next thing it cuts out again. Issues like this when on a rough road may point to a poor electrical connection, loose wires etc...Ignition switches are known to be "temperamental".

The glow plug light doubles as a DTC light, (Diagnostic Trouble Code indicator)...if it has come on there will be fault codes stored....you'll need to get the codes read otherwise you'll just be guessing like the rest of us..
