Van not opening cause of flat battery

Can anyone help. My van wont open from fob key due to battery flat and the security lock on driver door not working. Its a 2007 dura torq i was thinking of putting jump leads onn it for a while see if it helps. Any advice most welcome cheers

If it’s a single battery that will work but if it has twin setup it will not work unless you can switch the ignition on to link the batteries together.there is a post on here where you can put a live feed to fuse in the box in the engine compartment if you do a search you may find it

The most common cause will be battery has reached the end of its life - replace battery if that is so.

Followed by second most common cause ...terminals and earths.
- Take off terminals and wire brush them inside and clean the battery posts...find thick wires - usually black that attach to bodywork or engine or alternator ..take them off and de-rust them.

Charge the battery up with a charger.

Still having trouble after that ........
Put a volt meter across the battery terminals...should read something like 12.75 volts with engine stopped and anything from 13.25 to 14.5 with engine running

If it does not - then you need to replace the alternator .

If you do not find all the faults in the above and the battery still goes flat ..then you have a A parasitic drain, refers to when your car's battery continues to drain even after the car's parked, and the amount of drainage is much higher than normal.

Could be caused by a faulty alternator ..or something else that is drawing too much.

But lets hope that it's one of the above, as parasitic drain can be hard to pin down.
testing for parasitic drain may be beyond your capabilities then an auto electrician or good garage mechanic may be needed.
