new engine number

Postby Rob 1965 » Mon Jul 10, 2023 4:31 pm

hi all . i have a 2012 transit 155 T350 2.2, it had a brand new engine in 2021 just before i bought it, there are new clean zones coming soon so i'm wondering if the new engine could possibly be a euro6 ? can anyone tell me where the new engine number is and how to check if it's euro6 please, i have a copy of the log book before the engine was changed and it's no different to my new log book, cheers

I'm pretty sure it won't be E6 compliant.
It'll of been replaced like for like.

And if I'm not mistaken even if you do a complete conversion to the latest regs it won't matter as it's based on the year of manufacture of the vehicle.

Correct, the Euro6 engine is the 2 litre with the wet belt, although I believe that some of the last 2.2 minibuses were made to be E6 compliant too.

As said above, you can't retrofit a compliant engine to make the vehicle compliant, TFL have never allowed that, ever since the LEZ was first introduced :?

Although with the LEZ they allowed petrol conversions... so would a petrol conversion get around it? I guess the only way to know is for someone to do it....

Not as silly as it sounds...there's a bunch of "Ranger enthusiasts" here in Aus who fit big block 454 chevs to their Rangers, from the outside you wouldn't know, bit of a sleeper.
