Head removal 2.0 euro 6 help

Postby Jaythesprayer » Tue Nov 21, 2023 8:08 pm

So I’m going to take the head of this engine to check valves and pistons.
What’s the best procedure to remove the turbo, DPF and manifold.
Removed pretty much the rest and had a Quick Look today, saw some weird connector on the turbo that have no idea how to remove or is there another way. Just wanted a heads up before I get into it tomorrow

Consolidate all the stuff on this engine to one thread ,..then people can refer back to the start and see why you are doing things.

When You are starting new threads like this, it has people wondering why or when, you don't explain the past stuff..give it a few weeks and i will forget why ..its like doing a jigsaw ..putting the pieces together .

The engine, this 2,.0 ecoblue , you have in this van is a very new engine for ford ..id say no one on this forum has actually stripped one of these down ..so you are on your own guessing like the rest of us ..

i know some things or heard rumours about this engine failings , nothing that i have any proof of

here's what i know or think i know .

This engine had a bad first batch of blocks , the coolant passages at the top of the block were open between the cylinders..right up to the top face of the block

later modified to closed ...as they had plenty of failures because of this bad design

Picture below is showing is where on the block that they were open

NOTE :showing newer block with closed ones as i cant find a picture of the bad open ones

so showing a green line were they were once open, remember this is me remembering from a couple of years back,. its fuzzy i could be wrong . it could end up being the ecoboost 2.0l .petrol just.cant remember.
they also have injector problems from 2019

all the best.mark

Found out by myself so if anyone else wants to know
You can take the exhaust manifold off the head without removing the turbo and DPF
There fiddly to get at the nuts but not a bad job
I’m no mechanic and it’s taken me 5 hours to remove the head, not bad I thought

Problem is I can’t see anything wrong with the pistons or valves
