Ford transit mark 6 ASM gear box trouble

Before I start, I know it's not a new topic but I cannot find how to post on the existing topic.
However I wonder if anyone with my trouble with the dreaded ASM gearbox?
I have a 2006 Mk6 transit 125 T330 with an auto shift gearbox, 46 000 miles.
I am having problems starting in cold weather with with the ASM dash warning light preventing the hydraulic pump system starting. This cuts out engine start, not even tick over.
When weather warms up I can clear this by repeated attempted starts and eventually can get to tick over only and then by resetting drivers door earth connection and other times the bonnet closed earth connection, it eventually gets back to normal operation and driving with the auto change is working perfectly again.

Have you heard of anyone out there having had this trouble?

There is a lot written about this box , but not here , mainly on USA forums ..
i think its worth trollng the net , and reading the posts ..some talk about putting different grades of oil in it ..think it has hydraulic oil and gear oil .

meanwhile, if i've got the right one, - i found this ..Aston Martin use the same box , a lot wriiten specific to this box on this page

and in the article - this statement:-

"The original gear oil used in the manual and Sportshift transmissions was Shell Transaxle 75w90. But, after Aston Martin got a bunch of complaints about stiff shifting between 1st and 2nd gear when the transmission was cold, this gear oil was replaced by a custom blend from Castrol called BOT270A."

Thanks mark, very interesting reading. It's nice to know that Aston Martin thought that this type of gear shift was good enough for their cars.
