MK6 2003 LPG/PETROL POWER LOSS/OIL LEAK

Postby Remi » Tue Apr 02, 2024 10:46 am

I have top up the oil with Mannol 5w-30.
I am not sure if that makes the difference but when I drived on lpg the van started to losing power and I heard very little shots/explosion sounds. When accelerated it feel like Im on to high gear.
I started to drive on petrol and everything was normal. After while the van wasn't powerful as before and struggled to gain the speed up to 60mph. I searched the internet and found that the fuel injectors might be clogged and need cleaning/changing.
When i opened the bonnet I discovered oil leaked as you can see on the pictures.

Could anyone advice what is the issue and is it worth fixing or just get rid of?
Best regards

You don't show pictures of the plug leads ..if oil etc gets near them ..then it will crap out on LPG long before its craps out on petrol.

LPG is an insulator ...which means that its hard for the spark to jump the gap at the plugs , so the spark will tend to jump anywhere but at the right place (like out of the side of the lead),, so bad plugs ..dirty rotten leads , will exaggerate an LPG ignition problems to the point of not running on lpg, but runs ok on petrol .

so new leads and plugs needed first . you may also need a dizzy cap if it has one , and new gaskets for the cam cover .

all the best.mark

The gasket between the rocker cover and the cylinder head needs to be changed for sure , as metalworker says oil may well be leaking into the sparkplug channel and causing a misfire.
Other than that these engines are not to complicated get your codes read and that will indicate if you have a sensors need replacing or cleaning .
