I cannot find any info from dr.Google so I try my luck here.
I have a 2011 transit and lately it has started giving me problems.
It all started when I broke the heater valve because it was against the body and gave me a headache as it made an awful noise inside the car. Anyway I tried to move it and so it broke. Put in a new one and I probably didn't get the air out from the system. Anyway it didn't overheat etc. but a couple of days later the temp started to rise and it went to max and didn't come down. So something happened to the temp sensor. The guys in my local shop changed the sensor but now the problem is that when I start the car when it is cold, for maybe 5-10 seconds the tachometer is not working the gas pedal is not working. Engine and battery light are on. also the engine does not work properly then. Then the tachometer starts and everything works again. it is only with cold engine.
I think the problem has started after they installed the new temp sensor. it is an aftermarket sensor. Maybe that is the problem? Maybe OEM is needed?
Also I had a problem with the starter motor. first cold start it did not engage the pendix or what ever that is called in English. the thing that turns the flywheel
Recently also changed the chain inside the engine.
Yesterday I went to another shop where they are specialized in Transits and the guy said that he has about 10 transits with the same SRFA engine and the same tachometer problem and that they could not find out the problem. It is the 2010 and 2011 models. He said that he has given up on this issue as it gets expensive for everybody already as they don't know what the issue is. But they also said that they cannot connect the issue with the temp sensor because the other cars didnt chage the sensor.
Maybe someone here has had the same issue and has found a solution.
