no codes

Postby roundtuit » Sat May 18, 2024 9:13 pm

had the powertrain warning light come up lost power. i put the code reader in and no codes. when i started the engine a few hours later the lights were out, i left it running on idle for about 20 mins and the top hose on radiator blew off. at a loss if its coincidence or problems connected. any advice please

you are not saying what engine you have , what year it is and if rear wheel drive ..

im going to take a guess and say your fans are not coming on and it overheated ...which would means its front wheel drive.

that's as far as its gets without other info

As our metalworker0 mentions....you've not told us what model Transit you have. Assuming Mk7 though.

If the powertrain light has come on, there "WILL" be fault codes stored...what code reader was used..??

so, fix the hose, fill it back up with water, observe the temperature gauge, observe the radiator fan .. fan.should come on probably little after the needle on the gauge reaches the half way point.

if it does not:

caused by faulty fan stat.
or faulty fan
faulty fan resistor .

if other than that; check drive belt to the water pump.
and check the thermostat is opening
check header tank cap

Non of them

Then you are going to be asking: head gasket fail questions.
