2024 Transit Trend alarm going off

Postby Whippet62 » Sat Aug 31, 2024 10:02 am

I've had my (new shape) 2024 Transit Trend for about two months. Apart from the new vans being total rubbish (I would love my 2019 Custom back) I've got a problem with the alarm going off for no reason. It's always at night. There doesn't seem to be any pattern to the times apart from always at night. No trouble during the day. I've tried setting it to full and reduced alarm before locking without any difference. I've made sure everything is unplugged from USB/lighter socket. There's nothing flapping around in the cab to activate the sensor. I've tried keeping the keys next to the bed, unlocking the van when it goes off but it auto re-locks and after a while it'll go off again. It's got to the point where I'm now leaving the cab unlocked overnight. I will be contacting the lease company and get it booked in but work means that won't be for a while. Anyone got any ideas or have the same problem?

If your van was built before feb ‘24.
There is a body control module update for this concern.
Alarm going off intermittently with no hazards.
Needs a dealer to sort this under warranty.

Not sure when it was built. It was first registered in July. Is there any date on the VIN plate or a way to check from the VIN?

If you PM me your reg number or chassis number I can tell the build date.

Usually on a Ford
The last 2 letters in chassis or engine number, before end numbers are a month / year when decoded.

Why is the new custom "total rubbish", what other problems are you experiencing?

No major problems but lots of little 'niggles'.

1st isn't really a problem but I can't get used to the 'square' steering wheel.

Sat Nav keeps loosing it's signal. It seems to drop out randomly. I was near Gainsborough last week. Told me I was in the middle of the north sea. No way to reset it. It randomly starts spinning. This is both with the built in sat nav and Android auto. I still have to keep my TomTom as a backup.
You have to really slam the doors to shut them.
The electric handbrake doesn't auto off when you drive off.
The single stalk for wipers & indicators is a pain.
Fuel tank is smaller. I do regular runs over the country. Had my routes set up for filling points. That's buggered.
Doing simple things like altering the blowers/temp are now done via the screen. Takes longer as there's no direct switch/knob. You have to look away from where you are going to the screen to look for the controls.
Bloody lane control thing. No way to permanently turn it off. I find it more of a hazard than a help. It must be turned off when driving through twisty roads. Tried to turn me into an oncoming lorry after I pulled as far left on a narrow road to give the lorry more room.
Turning off auto stop start is again through the screen and not a simple to access button on the dash
DAB reception is really bad.

There's lot's of other little niggles but that's enough for now. I suppose I'll get used to it but I would much rather my '19 plate Custom back.

Build date 13.1.24
Your vehicle has an outstanding recall FSA24B45 specifically for the alarm concern you have.
I can only assume the van is a company van or lease and the recall letter has been sent to them being the registered keeper.
The recall is a update to body control module software as I suspected.

Hi

Thanks. Yes, it's a lease van so I'll get in touch with the lease company and see if I can get the van booked in to a Ford dealer.

I expect my neighbours will want me to do it ASAP  .
Thanks again

Well, a little update. I finally managed to find the time to get the van in for it's update. The alarm is now fine so no sleepless nights. BUT, since the update the van battery goes dead after standing for a couple of days even after a 150+ mile run.
Oh well, time to phone the dealer again.
