Mk7 dashboard disco and rear lights?

Hi all. Mk7 L2 H2 2.2 RWD 13 plate 171k miles.

Soooooo When I indicate left (only left) and put my foot on the brake my indicator light flashes on the dash as you would expect but my rear fog light symbol also flashes in time with indicator.
At the rear I am getting sometimes all the light in both rear clusters being dim or flashing at alternating times. I suspect a bad earth somewhere - I have cleaned up the earths near both rear lights. I note that the rear left bulb holder assembly was corroded around the top fitting. Thoroughly cleaned this and no different so I ordered two aftermarket rear bulb holders and fitted both no different. It has had a 7 pin plug fitted which I used fine for some time ( I know my trailer is good from another vehicle) but the left side on the trailer plays up when connected. I've disconnected the flasher unit. Adaptor for the seven pin plug from the external socket to the flasher unit and no change.

I have had a dash cam with a separate reverse camera fitted for some time with no issues although the reverse camera gets a feed from the reverse light cable behind my rear right bulb cluster. The Seven pin plug units is also behind this area - I'll disconnect the reverse camera and report back.

Anyone had this issue - any advice?

So I think I've sorted it between cleaning connection on bulbs, General connection cleaning and cleaning up earths. I'll put the rear 7 pin unit back on and see if it all still works. Think it's a bit of age and corrosion.........joy

Connect a separate earth straight onto bulb holder and see what happens
