Now when putting some starter fluid to the intake the engine seems to try to start but also backfires form the intake and creates loads of some coming form the intake, the oil cap, and the pipe on the turbo to.What do you guys reckon need to open up the engine to do rockers a lifters? And if yes is it possible to do it wile the engine is in the van or do I have to take it out?

Sorry, if this has happened ( I'm guessing it has - back fires through the inlet says to me it has ) if so - the only cure for it is a whole new CAM CARRIER COMPLETE WITH CAMSHAFTS
on ebay they start at £619 - don't know who makes them ...don't think anyone's going to knock off anything so complicated...so probably come from the original factory but don't have ford embossed on them.
A compression test must be carried out .......people who fit the carriers without removing the head to check for other damage are usually taking a chance, that sometimes works out in their favour. its a lottery.
all the best.mark
