Engine swap issues

Postby 61dub » Sat Nov 30, 2024 10:05 pm

I swapped out a 90ps engine for a 115ps in my mk6 transit. The donor engine was from a manual and my van is the ASM auto. Now the car won't shift and the ASM panel is flashing. If I shift into Drive, the box goes straight to 4th and the engine stops, same for Reverse. Doesn't matter if the engine is running or not, it goes straight to 4th. If I plug the original PCM and select Drive, it goes to first as it should. With the engine not running. I haven't tried to run the engine with the old PCM for fear of ruining a good diesel pump. And, the values going yo the diesel pump will be different from the 90ps to the 115ps.
Can anyone tell me if Forscan can be used to tell the PCM it's now in an ASM? That seems to be the stumbling block. I spent 4hrs yesterday trying. I have the paid version of Forscan by the way.
Or, is there another fix?
Also, my temp guage doesn't work with the 115 PCM, but it does when I plug in the 90ps PCM. The engine came from a 2004 with the electronic cluster. I can't swap the clusters because the wiring is different. Thoughts?

Cheers
