water penetration at door handles

Postby chrismckay » Tue Dec 17, 2024 9:54 am

Good Morning......

I have the interior panels off my van at the moment as I am insulating the van as part of a project, during this I have noticed water coming in through the sliding door and rear barn door handles.

Are handles supposed to be watertight?.....there was a plastic membrane on the two panels where the leaking door handles are, I realise that water penetration would be shielded from interior panels and that there are drain holes at base of doors, I am just surprised that this happens and my logical mind says it shouldn't.

I am looking for guidance from some of you mechanically minded guys before I go and book in at the local dealer

Chris...

So how would your logical mind stop water going down by your drop glass window rubbers and trim on your front doors.....
Oh not forgetting condensation.....
Use sound deadening that's non absorbant and wax oil inside the panels but keep drain holes open and the plastic membrane between door and door card
