Mk6 fitted VE Pump Timing ?

Postby JRHartley » Mon Jan 13, 2025 2:03 am

Im about to fit a VE Bosch pump off a 300TDI Land Rover, on my Mk6 2.4 TD, I intend to use a dial gauge in the end of the pump & replicate the timing from the old pump, my question is does any one know if the lift & duration of the two pumps is the same? if not at what lift should I set the VE pump at? thank you

I see the member Andy pdq says the 300tdi pump when fitted to a mk6 2.4tdi needs a pump cam plate with more lift, does any one know a part number or what its fitted to?

Looks like the cam plate is from a Cummins 4BT spec pump..

Andy has been back on here not so long ago, so it might be worth sending him a message to see if he can clarify.
And have you seen his videos on it?

He is not giving the info, isn't he selling the pumps ready to fit?

I think he shows the different camplates in one of the videos and maybe the part number

On retro rides a member has fitted a stock 300tdi pump to a Mk6, it runs fine at low boost and no pump tweaking. A increase in boost & pump adjustment should give a powerful power output.
Sounds like using a higher lift cam plate is a red herring, isn't yr man selling these "modified" pumps for £600?

I searched the forum and read as much as I could find on the mk6 VE conversion and also making up a VE pump for the mk5 turbo engine and I think you'll be fine with the landy pump, its internals are also what is recommended for the mk5.
I also read much about the pumps being made to sell but haven't seen anything about any actually being sold, or anyone saying they've bought one, and the mk6 is old now so I don't think there will be a rush to buy even if they were available, so I don't understand why andy is not into sharing the info.
