Hi, first I know that this is a ford group, but my citroen relay shares the same engine as ford's so thought I may have some better help here. Forums appear to be lacking for Citroen.
I bought my van a couple of weeks ago knowing there were running issues with the van cutting out. I drove it back home and the van cut out several times, but once stationary always started without any issue. The van would cut out when putting any real load on the engine (ie going above 2500rpm)
I have borrowed my friends autel diagnostic scanner and had the following fault codes;
P0087 - Fuel Rail/System Pressure – Too Low
P0193 - fuel rail pressure high circuit
P0201 - Injector Circuit/Open Cylinder 1
P0090 - Fuel Pressure Regulator Control Circuit / Open
P0266 - Cylinder 2 Contribution/Balance Fault
I have installed a new fuel filter and cleared the codes. I may be imagining it, but the engine appears to be running better since I changed the filter. I have been test driving the van and the majority of those codes have not come back. However, the following code is still appearing. Once again, it van cuts out when putting a load on the engine (ie going above 2500rpm)
P0087 - Fuel Rail/System Pressure – Too Low
I have performed a leak back test on the injectors, and injector 1 & 2 appear to be leaking more than cylinder 3 & 4 (see video here - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3XRMooq4E-4&t=21s)
I am thinking on trying to remove the fuel regulator, read the ohm resistance and test with a 12v battery that the regulator is opening and closing and possibly installing a new one (not too expensive £60). It looks like a bit of a pig to remove at is at the back of the engine.
I tried a different car scanner obd tool on my android phone today which also showed the following codes ;
P0087 - Fuel Rail/System Pressure – Too Low
P0090 - Fuel Pressure regulator 1 - open circuit
I assume there is a 12v lift pump installed in the diesel tank itself, i guess this pump on its own wouldn't generate enough pressure for the injectors themselves, however I think i may have read somewhere that the high pressure fuel pump on the side of the engine is not used until the engine is under some load.
Welcome any suggestions/comments and thanks in advance for any advice offered.
Richard
