Puzzle of the Cylinder Head

Postby SebTransit » Tue Feb 18, 2025 5:45 pm

Hi there everyone, just trying to solve some confusion over my cylinder head part numbers, and would be fantastic if anyone had some ideas. Apologise for the many part numbers im about to use but hopefully someone will understand what im going on about. I have a 06 Transit and i'm pretty sure its a mk6 from the 2000-2006 range, i think 3rd (or maybe 4th) gen. Its a 2.4 Tdci 135 RWD LWB (137bph, 2402cc) with T350 on the sides. Please correct me if any of that dosn't add up. I've just had the the cylinder head off which ended up having loads of cracks and needs replacing with all the valves, springs, cams and rockers. The part number on the side of my cylinder head is 4C1Q-6090-AA, which seems increadabley rare especially in the uk with none on ebay (i found some in poland, china and USA with no logistics to send to UK). When i search the part number, manufactures in china produce the 4C1Q-6090-AA part, but also display a second part number with a / next to it reading 4C1Q-6C032-AB, which are found on ebay UK. My question would be, 'I'm assuming these are two different numbers for the same part, and that i can buy the cylinder head with the part number 4C1Q-6C032-AB and it will fit my engine?' To confuse things even further there are websites advertise the 4C1Q-6090-AA (along side) /4C1Q 6K537 which also come up on ebay but for a 2.2 engine. Are all three numbers (4C1Q-6090-AA/4C1Q-6C032-AB/4C1Q 6K537-(AB)) the same part? ... Also (last one i promise :? ) when i type in my van make, engine size etc into ebay, the cylinder head that seems to be on most other vans of the same make (and therefor much cheaper) is YC1Q-6090-BC, will this cylinder head fit on my engine, is it interchangeable? And for a bonus question, when looking for a new cylinder head many sites suggest my engine is a H9FA, some say its a FXFA, which one do you think it is?? Thanx for any replys, much appreaciated as all a bit complex for me. (I have attched a pic of what my van looks like, not my exact van as is at garage )

Inside the passenger door should be the data plate sticker, on there should be the engine code (IE H9FA/FXFA or similar) fitted to your van from factory.

As our Airthies mentions...if you have a Mk6 2.4 135 TDCi, it will be a H9FA engine, this should be on a sticker in one of the door-shuts. Mk6 was never released with a 2.2 engine. 2006 was also the changeover year from Mk6 to Mk7. The engines are quite different. We'll need the actual "build date" to determine the exact model. The Mk7 140 engine is H9FB.

Good luck finding a cylinder head for 2.4 tdci mk6 135ps Hens teeth
And a simple picture of front of your van would tell mk6 or mk7,
Some cracks can be welded then machined depending where crack is, a picture of that would be good , has it been shown to any engineer for a verdict?
