Removing DK3T10B728AA relay module

Postby hgb93 » Mon May 05, 2025 7:52 pm

Hi all,

I've scoured the internet high and low for help with this without much success, so I'm hoping someone here has some answers!

I've bought a 2018 Ford Transit. It's ex-BT so came fitted with full workshop in the back - 12v supply and inverter. I want to remove all the existing system.

This is the setup as far as I can tell:
- there are dual batteries located under the driver's seat
- +ve terminals of starter and leisure battery wired into the black distribution box also under the seat (I assume the alternator is also connected here and both batteries are charged when engine is on)
- from +ve of starter battery, wire connecting to DK3T10B728AA relay module located beneath the handbrake
- from DK3T10B728AA module, wire going to workshop which provides power to crane, boiler and some 12v appliances (only when engine is on)
- -ve terminals of both batteries connected to chassis as far as I can tell

I would like to disconnect this workshop system completely, so my questions are:
- if I wanted to connect some 12v appliances to the spare leisure battery, can the relay be repurposed so the leisure battery is charged when engine is off, but the starter battery is isolated and not drawn on to power these 12v appliances?
- if that's not possible, what's the safest way to disconnect the relay module?
