Transit 2013 MK7 Blue key fob Immobiliser not opening van.

Postby MPNTRANSIT » Sat May 24, 2025 1:18 pm

Hi guys,

I have a 63 plate (2013) FWD transit van, which I use daily. 2 weeks ago, I went out to my van and it wouldn't unlock using my blue key. I walked around the van and kept pressing the unlock buttons, and then suddenly the rear doors unlocked. Of course, then I couldn't lock the vehicle. After a little research on Google, I found that the key fobs were a sealed unit with a rechargeable battery inside them, which was soldered to the circuit inside. I continued to order a new battery and soldering iron, and when it arrived the next day, I cut the casing open and swapped the batteries over. It worked fine for 2 weeks and ive just gone out to my van to pop to the shop and the same has happened again. The van will not open, and the immobiliser will be active even if I could gain access to the van.

My question is, has anyone else on here had this issue? Was it linked to anything else? I can't keep replacing the battery every couple of weeks. I read somewhere just now that it could be linked to the remote receiver module not having power. The only thing that makes me think that it is not this is that the past 2 weeks, it has been fine.

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

TIA.

FWD or RWD..?? Do you have twin batteries under the driver's seat..?? If so, check the front one....they usually fail first as they keep the van alive and run all the vehicle electrics when the van isn't running.
