Mk7 2.4 CUTTING OUT!

Postby Tomdye1 » Fri May 30, 2025 10:40 pm

Me again, back with more questions about this van that I am rapidly falling out of love with!

Previously on here with issues of engine breathing heavily so have had Recon Engine, Recon diesel pump, recon turbo, new plugs, new water pump, new oil cooler and filter and diesel filter.

Was driving it this evening and randomly cut out coming up to a roundabout, lost all power steering and the likes. Came to a stop and turned the ignition off and on and again and it fired straight up and then drove again fine before doing the same another 4 times in a half hour journey.

The only thing I can notice is that the range computer goes blank just before/during it cutting out, everytime it will start straight up after.

I am pulling my brains out and can’t find any answers anywhere!

Any help would be massively appreciated!

You should get Forscan and do it yourself...it's free to download onto a windows lappy and the cable is cheap. Some garages charge upwards of 75 quid just to plug in, let alone fix anything.

Check battery terminals and ignition switch on back of column.
With key in ignition give it a wiggle around see if it has any effect.
If the dash display is going blank it's an electrical fault.

Hi mate, these are the codes showing. The one that seems to stand out the most is P0089 Fuel Pressure Regulator performance error and P062B Internal Control Module Fuel Injector Control Performance Continuous

P062B:16-14

P0195:11-14

P2265:64-2F

P0089:7A-28

P1103:00-E9

Any Leo with possible solutions or causes would be massively appreciated!

Thankfully I’m lucky enough to have a mate that lets me use his garage equipment!

Descriptions with the codes is always a good help to us on here as we don't have to go searching what these all are, and let us know what brand diagnostics you're using as not all brands read the same.

As many say and I'll back that, Forscan is second only to genuine ford diagnostic, my mate I share a workshop with (I don't do cars) will get me to plug into sort out issues with fords with my full version Forscan where his Snap-On, Würth and other brand units won't read or clear codes.

P062B and P0089 point to a failed or failing SCV...very common on the Euro-4's.

P2265 is water in fuel which you can probably disregard....some transits got this code, even if they didn't have the WIF sensor fitted.

P0195 is a strange one....it's an oil temp sensor code.

P1103 is a MAF sensor issue...more than likely caused by a poorly EGR valve.

Thank you, is there a recommended supplier to get these from online and do you have to do the PRV at the same time?

When the recon engine/diesel pump came I’m sure it had a new SCV on it, are these likely to have failed in just 1000 miles or could the PRV which wasn’t replaced at the time be causing the same symptoms?

Update - have tried the test on the PRV that I saw in another post to remove the fuel line and crank the engine to see if anything comes out. Nothing came out so I am assuming this is still doing its job?!

The Mk7 Euro-4 high pressure pumps rarely fail...why was it replaced..?? New SCV means nothing if it wasn't a "genuine" one. Were the learns done after all this work..??

If the PRV was blown, the engine would never start.

The recon engine came with a recon pump already bolted and timed up. The learns were all redone once everything was bolted back together.

A bit strange...TDCi pumps aren't timed....they're essentially "plug 'n play"..
