driving lights

hi lads, its a query about the rear driving lights on my mk7 hitop transit. for the first time on saturday i had to go out at night in my van, after a while i noticed i was getting flashed from cars behind, when i got to my destination i noticed the nearside top light was out, because its a dual driving light and brake light the brake light worked fine, i bought new bulbs but the light will only work with the brake, all other lights work front and back, any help please.

the high level light in the center is only a brake light

Will probably be a poor earth in the rear clusters...very common.
