What’s the purpose of the spring loaded idler sprocket?

Postby Kyle2643 » Mon Oct 06, 2025 11:39 am

This sprocket pinged off during a wet belt replacement as I was hand cranking and now it’s loose. I understand I need to remove the idler pulley and reset the spring and then replaced the bolt but what is it even for? Why is this not just one solid sprocket?

Think it's some sort of anti backlash gear .. i don't understand it, as ive never pulled one apart.. if i had i would know.

These guys have ; LINK BELOW... it can be difficult to understand how it knits together, and Can be assembled wrongly, from my point of view, sitting here in a chair, sorry, i have no idea.
